Posts: 3543 Jul 7 10 1:19 PM	per espn: Rodney Hood (Meridian, Miss./Meridian) 2011, SF, 6-foot-8, 190 pounds Hood is a long, athletic forward who shows range and accuracy on his jumper. He is comfortable knocking down mid-range jumpers and extending his distance beyond the arc. He uses his jumper to stretch the defense and set up his dribble-penetration game. When paired with his ability to score from inside and outside, his size and length could make him a mismatch for defenders down the road. He also has quick hands and feet which allow him to defend multiple positions and can cause deflections because of his active hands and alert mind. Hood definitely has the ability to be a productive player on both ends of the court.

Posts: 3543 Jul 8 10 10:36 PM	Rakeem has been playing well, but his team has not been winning. Not a big deal with these throw together camps. But he has been active on defense and solid on the boards. His guards are not the best, but whatever. Rakeem's righty hook has looked good all week. Still needs to work on his footwork, but everything is coming along nicely.

Posts: 571 Jul 9 10 9:00 AM	Per Telep at the Lebron: Branden Dawson, SF: His first game of the day featured a trio of makes behind the arc. His second wasn’t bad either. When a guy boxed out America’s best offensive rebounder, he actually looked at the kid with an element of shock. The college coaches seemed surprised and encouraged by his perimeter success on this day. This is one of those kids everyone in the building agrees they’d love to have. Good day for Dawson who had eyeballs on him.

Posts: 1443 Jul 9 10 11:25 AM	Per rivals: King Classic: Brandon Dawson has always been on the cusp of the five-star/four-star borderline as a prospect. He has a college ready body, strong athleticism and is an exceptional defender, rebounder and finisher. At this event, however, Dawson has displayed an expanded skill set. He has shot the ball well from behind the arc and has looked good with the basketball in the open court. Nick Faust. Although he doesn't have the reputation yet of some of his counterparts, Faust has been the most impressive performer of all the shooting guards in the camp. In a John Jenkins like fashion, Faust drains deep shots with his unorthodox release. But he has also attacked off the dribble and finished with authority at the rim. His length as a shooting guard also gives him an edge defensively. Rodney Hood. At nearly 6-foot-8, the left handed Hood is the quintessential point forward. He is steady with the ball, finds teammates and can work himself into position to score over smaller defenders. Rakeem Christmas. He measured out with the top wing span of 87 inches at the camp, and he has used it to his advantage on the glass. Christmas also has shown signs of developing as a scorer on the baseline.

Posts: 3543 Jul 12 10 11:08 PM	TDeals watched the game of the day between Team Final (Rakeem) vs Playaz (Kyle). He also caught Sam THompson and Nerlen Noel's. I'll let him fill everyone in when he has time to post. As for wins n loss: Kyle and Rakeem's teams have a win and loss. Sam Thompson has 2 wins. Nerlen Noels has2 wins. Think Brandon Dawson got hurt and did not play for Meanstreets today, not sure about rest of tourny.

Posts: 3543 Jul 13 10 11:30 AM	Deals is super busy cover the Jam, so he sent me his recap: Rakeem: Game 1. His team lost the first game. Rakeem played solid. He ran the floor very well and defended at a high level. Finished with almost a double double. He has good shooting mechanics, but he missed way too many free throws. Wow, well Rakeem kind of struggled early of the game as he it was a guard jack-fest of one on one between Tyrone and Myles Mack. Both those guys were just scoring at will on each other all game. Rakeem has improved footwork as I stated from the first game, but he needs to work on his post moves. His right hand hook is very strong and is his go to move now. He does not use his left hand much and seems uncomfortable trying to finish with his left. He needs to work on this right away, as this will hurt him in college. He worked very well in the pick n roll game with Tyrone. Rakeem is at his best in that elbow high post area, where he can shoot it, pass it, or make a dive to the basket. Since that is the sweet spot in the Georgetown offense, this is a very good sign for how good he would be in they system. His help defense is great and he covers a lot of ground. He needs to get stronger particularly his legs and post up lower/stronger. But this will come. Sam showed a very nice mid range game, and played all 3 outside positions in the win. This kid has so much untapped talent it is amazing. His mechanics are good with his jump shot as he was pretty fluid shooting mid-range jumpers. He is not quite comfortable shooting long range, but that can come. He sees the floor very well, and is a good passer. He is very unselfish and looks to make the correct basketball play. One thing that he needs to work on, for someone with so much athleticism, Sam should be a better rebounded. First play of the game, ALLYOOP DUNK! Sam THompson is in the building (So was John Thompson III). Sam basically ran the PG spot all game, and he really looked good doing it. He is not a pure PG and does not have that kind of ball handling. But he is a very good ball handler and decision maker, so he can get the ball up the court and initiate the offense. He is so cerebral, that he picks things up very quickly and reads the defense well. When he was in the game, his team was in total control. When he was out of the game, his team struggled. Ok, I will just get to the point. This kid was meant to play at Gtown. I know people will not believe that this kid is a better passer than Jeff and Greg, but he is just a special talent. He is a point forward supreme(a small forward that can initiate the offense). The kid played every position on the court, and was great every where. I mean he rebounds, passes, scores with both hands, handles great. His shooting mechanics are coming along nicely. Kyle lost in double OT, but he left it all on the court. Actually the game should never have gotten to OT because the refs counted the 3ptr to tie the game after the buzzer. But at least if gave us more good hoops to watch. Kyle can do whatever he wants from the perimeter. I think he is just quick enough to get to the basket from the wing, and he still has time to improve his quicks. He was punking any guy that tried to guard him. LOL. Kyle finishes very well around the basket either driving or posting up. That Baby Faced Killa nickname is a good one, because he plays tough for looking so young. We thought Monroe would get the first triple double since, and he came close a few games. But Kyle is a walking triple double and I guarantee if he is in a Hoya uni that he gets a triple double. Just put him on the court and let him play, do not even worry about what position he is playing because he is a winner. The kid has to work on his stamina so he can sustain his high level of play the whole game, but that should come with a good/tough conditioning program. Coach Hunter was smiling as he watched Kyle and Rakeem. Kyle had a nice score and the foul on Rakeem. As I was watching the game, I could not help but wonder how nice it would be to see Kyle and Rakeem playing together. Their games compliment each other so well. Hoya fans should be ecstatic that this kid wants to be a Hoya, because Gtown will ecstatic to have him in a few years. He is pushing 6'10 and super long. This kid has great springs and really rebounds and blocks well. He swats everything. Noel has some nice post moves. He's a twig right now though. Defensive game changer. Super high ceiling. WEIGHT ROOM! His team won both of its games. Posts: 571 Jul 14 10 8:30 AM	Busy, busy, busy down at the Peach Jam. Day 2 was not as good as day 1 as everyone is officially TIRED. Players, coaches and me. As JTIII told me yesterday, "I'm getting ready to take a break!" As luck would have it, the head man at our glorious instititution was parked right next to me as we made our exit in between games. The one minute of convo was the highlight of my time here. Now, on to the games.... First game of the day was Team Final against Meanstreets or Rakeem Christmas vs Anthony Davis. JTIII was perched at midcourt watching attentively. This turned out to be more of Davis vs Gilchrist since Davis tends to play more on the perimeter and wanted no part of Christmas inside. Guess that will happen when you get your shot sent the other way a few times early. Anyway, Rakeem spent most of the game on the bench in foul trouble and this one was forgettable to say the least. His evening game against Team Florida was MUCH better and he had everything on display - offense and defense. What a shame to see the kid working so hard only to have Cooney, Gilchrist & Johnson jack up shots. Rakeem has rebounded the ball well in this tournament and i came away impressed with that aspect of his game. JTIII watched again, this time he sat directly across from the Team Final bench. Disclaimer - the stats that are being posted by Nike are bogus. They are being done by teenage volunteers who obviously are missing tons of assists, rebounds and blocks. Sam Thompson - Sam didn't have a great day yesterday but it was nothing to be concerned about. The biggest hurdle for Sam right now is getting some consistency on his jumper. He does everything well and is the kind of player the Hoyas should covet bc he is cerebral and unselfish. Kyle Anderson - I caught Kyle's evening game against Meanstreets. Kyle had a tough matchup against Anthony Davis but played well. He got to the rim at will against Davis but struggled to finish. The shots just werent falling. Kyle got the better of the matchup until the Playaz went to a zone and Davis ate them alive. Kyle is one of the best passers I've ever seen at the HS level. He's still gotta work on his explosiveness to be successful at the college level. He's got plenty of time for that though as he is a 2012 kid. Ok gotta run and catch a few more games before I head back to Atlanta.

Posts: 1443 Jul 14 10 5:17 PM	Great stuff deals. Here is stuff from the scout guys: "Desmond Hubert, C, New Jersey Playaz – Much like Davis, Hubert is a special in a specific area of the game. With Hubert, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound post player, he’s at his best on defense swatting shots. Although the stat sheet only credited him with four blocks, we had him with eight. Hubert uses his length, has great timing and gets off the ground quickly. Desmond Hubert claims offers from Villanova, Pittsburgh, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Virginia and Maryland. Georgetown is also recruiting him. Kyle Anderson, PF, New Jersey Playaz – Coaches on the sidelines raved about this 6-foot-8 versatile forward. Some think he’s a wing, others insist offensively he’s a point guard. I prefer him more as a combo or power forward. He’s not the fastest, nor very athletic, but he does have a terrific feel for the game and is a terrific passer. He’s a crafty player that was very effective against Spiece. He finished with 13 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and six turnovers. Junior Kyle Anderson earned much respect Tuesday night. He had a tough guard in Anthony Davis and kept plugging away. He stood in there on defense and offensively showed his versatility"

Posts: 571 Jul 14 10 9:44 PM	Well guys my time is over at the Peach Jam. Unfortunately, I only got a chance to see 2 games today. I caught one last look at Sam Thompson. Sam was favoring his ankle so he he sat out most of the 2nd half as his team lost. Don't think it would have mattered much as Mac Irvin was the victim of the beast known as Ricardo Gathers. This kid has the look of the incredible hulk and plays like it down low. Their tourney hopes went out the window with that loss. I did make sure to hang around for the Team Takeover vs Oakland Soldiers matchup. Knew there would be a ton of talent on the court and I wanted to check out Jabari Brown, Kyle Wiltjer, Brandon Ashley, Mikael Hopkins, John Manning & Darion Atkins who have listed the Hoyas at times. JTIII was taking in the action too. Good to see the head honcho and I have similar taste in basketball selection. Long story short, Takeover whooped the Soldiers. As far as the aforementioned players, nothing to write home about. They're all good players but they all failed to impress. Ashley gets a pass bc he's a 2012 kid with tons of potential. The kid just had a rough day but the talent is there and he competes. I was however, very impressed with *Nick Johnson* from the Soldiers. Now that kid is a Balla! He's a 6'3" combo guard whom the Soldiers should thank for not letting them lose by 50. The kid is terrific on defense, super athletic and has a very nice stroke from deep. I was waiting for Jabari Brown to get more involved but Johnson was the only one who made plays. The kid is wide open so hopefully, III and I have the same eye for talent. Oh yeah, Julian Debose was pretty darn good for Team Takeover. Hard worker on both ends of the floor. Don't know much about him other than he's a 6'4" SG and plays at St. John's.

My guys out in LA watched him at the Nike EYBL, and absolutely loved him. They said his on the ball defense is elite and he is a sick athlete. SICK AHTLETE. Even more athletic than Bishop Daniels. He has very good mechanics on his shot, and it is improving. He is a combo guard now, but he is developing PG skills... Would luv to see Gtown going hard after him. Not sure if he would want to get off the westcoast, but he is worth the effort. As for the tournament. Team final (Rakeem) beat BABC (Nerlen Noels) in OT. They both had strong games, and blocked and rebounded at high levels. The talent both these youngins have is uber high. The good thing is Rakeem can come to Gtown now and be 2 and done, then Nerlen Noels would come in after him. BTW. All people need to know about Lil Kyle is that he finished the tournament averaging 4th in rebounds (9.6), 2nd in assist (5.2), and 3rd in steal (2.0). Now even if all the stats are a little scewed as TDeals said, that is some serious production. Of course Nerlen Noels and Rakeem finished 1st and 2nd in blocks. He had that kind of a day. Jefferson’s work ethic and humility are trumped only by his talent and now production. Jefferson got his hands on everything and showed the package. He was awesome inside finishing plays and he’s turned into a versatile four man."
