Yeah, good bigmen have just been sparse the past couple of years. Which is why JT3 wants to see more of Mo over the course of this season, before deciding to go hard after him. Of course the purple elephant in the room is the top bigman prospect in the 2011 class that most likely wants to be a Hoya. Unfortunately, this brings up a few problems:
1. Gotta use the term bigman loosely because he is closer to 6'8.
2. Even if he wants to be a Hoya, there is too much crap on the outside that will try and do everything to change that and too much time before signing day.
3. Even when he would commit to Gtown, the biggest pimp in the game will still be working to gain control over him and steer him elsewhere (if he quietly has not already). Which is why it is not wise for the staff to put the eggs in one 2011 bigman basket, if they can get a good enough one in 2010. This prospect is a stand up/good kid, so we will see.

The good thing is that the entire roster will be back next season except Monroe. So with Nate and Markel, that gives the team good depth even if they only add one more wing this class. Obviously you take Kendrick in a heartbeat. Then maybe Roscoe if he really wanted to come. Mitchell has a lot of issues, but if he is willing to be a depth guy at the 3/4 spots then fine. The problem is now that he has been hyped up to be much better than he currently is just like Latavius, he and his people have a very warped sense of how good he is... The only thing more idiotic than fans trying to base who a team should recruit off of rankings, is the actual player(and his supporters) trying to base there decisions off of rankings.

The funny thing is that calishadi is irrelevant in the recruitment of the top prospects. It is all about wide wes wes getting control over the kids via family/aau...

CJ Leslie is a bigtime talent, but he is longshot. It is good that Gtown is looking at all bigman options, but Leslie will end up at uk or UNC if they offer.

It is always a much better indication of how good a player is by seeing who is really recruiting him (unless they are under the radar), versus some subjective scouting guys that put up a list. Mitchell is what he is. Missouri would actually be the best place for him. Now contrast the schools recruiting Kendrick and Roscoe(in-home visits):

Kendrick: Gtown, kentucky, ucla, gtech, indiana, memphis, uga, bama, Miami.
Roscoe: Gtown, uconn, dook, kansas, florida

Early signing period is now over. About half of the top 30 players in the country have not signed and are waiting until Spring. Even RDF/lil Deals fav Terrence Jones. And no, Gtown has not contacted him in months. The point is, there will be an insane amount of movement this spring with signings and the usual coaching changes.
