Posts: 3539 Oct 1 09 11:52 PM	Gbinije does not have a Gtown offer. Been monitoring for a long time, but never an offer. Of course a lot of the 2011 recruiting will be based on whether or not the team needs any wings.

Posts: 1443 Oct 26 09 1:07 PM	per NBE: Blaise Mbargorba, 2011: Probably the most unknown of the players in the junior game, Mbargorba showed flashes of his potential. He had one big-time dunk in the second half, as well as a couple of nice rebounds and blocks. He is still clearly raw, but the fact that he is 7-feet tall and has solid skills bodes well for his future. Mbargorba, a center from St. Benedict's (N.J.), says that Georgetown is showing him the most interest at this point, but there are plenty of schools contacting him. Tyrone Johnson and Rakeem Christmas were injured and did not play in the event.

Posts: 3539 Dec 18 09 12:17 AM	Remove this ad A buddy just watched Chol play in Vegas, so this is what he told me: First off, when I walked into the gym every Pac 10 school had an assistant coach there and so did UNC. So I knew I was in the right place. Chol is a smidge over 6'8, with long arms, and a wirery but strong build. The guards on his team are not very good, and do not do a good job of getting him the ball (typical highschool). Chol is a lefty. He as an automatic lefty hook shot with great touch. He counters his lefty hook shot with a nice turn the other way for bank shots off the glass. His shooting form is sort of like Greg Monroe's was in highschool with that exaggerated elbow bend. But Chol has a very nice touch and range out to 15ft. He is an excellent shot blocker and help defender. The long arms and left hand help. He is a good offensive rebounder, but not a strong defensive rebounder yet. He runs the floor well and is a quick jumper, but not a "freak" athlete. Does not handle the ball very well. Can dunk with either hand, but never had the chance to score with his right during the game so not sure how affective it is. Overall: Liked what he saw. Says Chol is not a one and done type impact player, because he will need 3-4 years to really develop. At 6'8 he has to play PF, but if he gets stronger can moonlight at the center spot. He will have to develop into an NBA PF because doubt he can ever have the full perimeter skills to play SF in the league. Strengths: Length for just being 6'8 shooting touch Post game block shots finishes Passes out of the post good athlete Weakness Right hand? Defensive rebounding handles hands

Yeah, Chol's recruitment has nothing to do with Roc. You should certainly try and catch as many of his games as possible. He has very good post moves and shooting touch inside of 15ft. He is also a very good passer out of the post and out of double teams. He has a much better feel for the game than most African players, as he is not mechanical. He gets good post position, and knows how to score the ball. Nice foot work. The kid arms just extend out of nowhere and blocks everything. He is bouncy, but not a super athlete. After watching 2 games this week, my buddy never saw Chol use his right hand. Chol also did not do a good job of boxing out. He is a good offensive and area rebounder,but he does not really box his man out then goes for the board. He relies on his athleticism and quicks. Not a good ball handler yet

Posts: 3539 Dec 29 09 11:40 AM	2011 forward improving game, seeing college interest While most of the attention Saturday night in the Seton Hall Prep-Point Pleasant Beach high school basketball contest was focused on Prep guard Sterling Gibbs, one of the nation's top guards in the class, another 2011 prospect is also getting some attention from some big name schools as well. Point Pleasant Beach's 6-foot-6, 200-pound forward Jarelle Reischel is a name to remember this spring and summer as college coaches will be certain to evaluate when the time comes. While Gibbs definitely stole the show Saturday, scoring 38 points in SHP's 77-58 win, Reischel scored 14 points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for Point Pleasant Beach, who dropped their first game of the season after opening with two wins. Reischel has only been in the United States just over a year, coming from his native Germany, and making his game more 'American' has been an adjust for him and is one of the areas. Posts: 3539 Dec 29 09 11:41 AM	Maybe new here , but Not new on the Hoyas front . I doubt the level of interest is that heavy right now. He had a decent spring/summer and that's how he raised his status somewhat. He's a shooter and when he's hot - he's Hot. He plays down the Jersey Shore and the Comp really isn't that good (Pt. Pleasant Beach) .. reason I know this is because I played my H.S ball in that area and I know a few coaches down there. I've been told he has alot of work to become B.E material , but the potentials there. At this point in his career , they're saying he's like Jarron Griffith(sp) the kid that went to Rutgers. Jarrod came from the Shore area as well (Manchester H.S) and after having the hype , never really lived up to it. Jarelle is said to be better at this point , but still has room to grow. I hope he can continue to work on his game and get stronger - he may turn into a late bloomer and blow up in the summer.

Posts: 1443 Jan 5 10 12:19 PM	From Greg Hicks- who is a tough grader: Angelo Chol, 6-7 C/PF San Diego (Calif.) Hoover. Chol continues to develop and he's one of the elite big men in the West Coast class of 2011. A lefty with a great basketball body, and above average athleticism, Chol projects as a guy that will likely defend the four and five at the next level. He's a very good shot blocker (very quick off the floor), but he has the lateral quickness to defend on the perimeter as well. He's very comfortable playing in the paint and his offensive game is more that of a five man at this time. He's got a terrific little jump hook, as well as a good feel in the post. He's an above average passer too, which makes it frustrating to see his teammates struggle to get him the ball. He's a willing passer and he finds teammates consistently when they get him the ball. Chol does need to develop his right hand. If he does so, he will be extremely difficult to defend in the paint as opponents will no longer be able to overplay his left hand. He's showing signs of developing a nice face up shot out to about 17 feet. His stroke is still a bit long, but he's got a nice touch and the ball comes off his hand fine. Chol has shown consistent progress in the last three years and there's no reason to think he won't continue to develop into a very good player at the next level.

Posts: 351 Jan 19 10 3:05 PM	Hope that III is personally after Johnson and Christmas in the '11 class. I really like Tyrone Johnson--and Christmas is a defensive presence that is needed and type of finisher who would benefit from Lubick's passing skills. As for Hopkins and Cook--I'm less of a Mikael fan then most. I liked his touch/face up game and he had some nice footwork--but he's got to be 6'10+ to really be considered imo. He's just not good enough as a rebounder or active enough in terms of defense/glass for my taste. Now maybe I saw him on a bad day--but what I saw last night--wasn't the type of big that is needed. Anxious to see him again--as I've seen him play 4 times since last year and still left wanting to see more aggression and competitiveness on the glass. I like Quinn Cook's jumper off the ball. Think he's much better without ball then with it. Thought he forced things a bit--but in his defense--he's only big time shooter DeMatha has right now. Olidapo is a slasher without a jumper, and Grant is similar. Did like James Robinson and younger Grant's potential.

Posts: 571 Jan 19 10 10:17 PM	DVRd the game. I didn't think Hopkins was all that bad. He didn't really give a great rebounding effort and needs to squeeze the ball. He did, however, show a nice touch from 15ft and had a few hard dunks after sealing his man in the post. Showed some nice post moves that didn't drop for him. Didn't really impress me on defense in this game but he did a good job on D when I saw him this summer. Does the kid need some work? Yes! But I wouldn't write him off at all. Very nice upside and nice frame. Might grow some more which would be even better. If he works hard, he may get there. Lots of season left plus spring and summer. Plenty of time to evaluate further.

With Markel and Vee, I feel like we are good at the 1. Cant ever be too deep. But I fear that we will have a bigger need at 2 and 3 in 2011. But if that gets addressed somehow in the 2010 group, then I agree that those 2 would be great. Dont see a lot of quality wing options left in 2010. But kids are pretty fickle these days. Wouldnt be shocked if one dropped out of the sky via transfer or decommit. Imagine the fecal-eating grin on Boeheim's face when watching Wes Johnson's first practice in Orange.
