Otto: WEIGHT ROOM WEIGHT ROOM WEIGHT ROOM. Gotta get the legs more explosive and stronger. The next evolution in the game must be improving the jumpshot, post game, and handles. The defense in the post was solid, but must work on lateral movement on the perimeter. Need to improve scoring and finishing with left hand.
Greg: WEIGHT ROOM WEIGHT ROOM WEIGHT ROOM. Just like Otto, you must improve your leg strength and explosiveness. Greg plays on the wing more than Otto, so improving the lateral quicks and on ball defense is a priority. Just like Hollis, there is a mismatch in the post whenever Greg can post his man up. However, Greg is weak and does not have a post game yet. So this must be developed. Need to work on the handles religiously.
Markel: Footwork on the jumpshot has improved since highschool, but must continue to improve to be a consistent shooter. Gotta get that sick handle back where you could break the defense down and get into the lane to create shots for teammates and yourself. The effort on defense has improved since highschool, but a lot of work in the area is needed. This team is elite if the PG can stay in front of his man and keep him out of the lane. Work, work , work.
Nate: Too top heavy. Need to slim down and improve leg strength, balance, and quickness. Most importantly it is time to completely reconstruct the mechanics of the jumpshot. This is not an adjustment, this must be a reconstruction. BTW. A hook shot is a great weapon if you do not have the length or lift of the player defending you, so use it.
Jabril: There is an opportunity at the PG for serious minutes. Seize the opportunity. Work on the PG skills, handles, shooting, and on ball defense. Must be able to defense smaller quicker guards. Need to develop a midrange game also.
Mickael: Someone has to be able to score the ball consistently in the post. Well this is your opportunity. Need to improve the shot, footwork, back to the basket game, and court awareness. If you can hit that mid range/elbow area jumper consistently, this will help expand your game.
Tyler: Get healthy, get in shape/conditioning. Lose 30-40 pounds. Improve the quicks, explosiveness, and post game. Footwork.
Moses: Get healthy.
The entire team needs to improve lateral quicks and leg explosiveness. Guys have to learn to find a man and boxout better.
Pick-up ball and workouts. GO HAM. Maker yourself and everyone else better. And dunk the damn ball anywhere near the basket. Too many guys lately with soft layup mentallity and taking forever to gather themselves. Bang that thang.
Coaches: Stop coaching phucking scared. Much better this season, but damn ya think that a successful trap/press would be used more than just for getting back into the game against nc state... Get these guys boxing out better. A lot of guys still stand too high on defense, get them low and moving their feet. Oh, and get a tall athletic PG in 2013. You have only recruited one short, overweight, lazy player recently, but no more of those guys.
Cautionary note to the freshman:
Austin Freeman had a great freshmen season. He spent his off season drinking, eating, and partying. He came back his sophomore year 40 pounds over-weight {no bullshit}. When you think you have accomplished something and slack off, the world will quickly pass you by. Dajuan Summers had a great freshman season. He spent the off-season just working on his jumpshot and scoring moves. He never worked on his handles, defense, rebounding, or post game. Thus he never developed into the player he should have been. Henry Sims had a good senior season, and as the youngest senior in the country with his skill set…he should get drafted and have a long productive NBA career. I luv Henry, but he did not do shit his first 3 years because he just wanted to have fun and not work hard. Imagine where Henry and this team would be if he had applied himself from the beginning. Live in the gym now, and be rewarded later. Sacrifice is what separates people. Yes, DC is a lot of fun, especially Gtown. Heck outside of Miami there is not a more fun city on the eastcoast. Having said that, if you do not have your priorities in order and time management, then you will end up like Henry. Never look back in life and say what if.
I am excited about where this program is and where this program is going.
Georgetown is a special place.
The present is bright, the future is brighter.
