Well the thing is, and why I said getting Upshaw may be tougher than noel... Is not that anything crooked is going on like with noel, it is like a perfectly bad storm of factors that don't favor Gtown with Upshaw's recruitment:
1.  Mom wants him close
2. He likes the new Fresno coach Rodney Terry
3. Terry coached at Texas for a decade, and coached Durant, Aldridge, Tristan Thompson...
4. Upshaw's favorite player is Durant
5.  Upshaw likes the area and wants to be the man (although he would be the man at bigman U).

So yeah, expect him to announce Freson on Sunday.  Gtown getting Upshaw would be a bigger pull and shock than noel committing to Gtown in all honesty.

ehh.  Honestly there is NOBODY on the dook roster that I would want at Gtown.  It is funny but take a look back at the dook players that at one point Gtown had some recruiting interest in...I am very happy with how things have worked out in dook vs Gtown recruiting.  That is not even my normal dook diss.  That is just being real about dook's players.  No thanks.

As for Mike Gbniji specifally, he is a nice kid and solid player.  But at the 2/3 position, he would only be worth taking a look at if Gtown can't land Devanta.  Gbinji needs a lot of work on his shot, handle, and toughness.

BTW.  For those that do not know, RDF is the whitest dude in America.

Temple could over-take nova quickly in Philly.  The Big East does need Providence, nova, SJU, SHU...to be strong so it would be nice if these teams stepped up their recruiting.  I really like what Cooley is doing at Providence.  He is bringing in serious talent.  Health at SoFlo is doing a good job, and Bubba Sparx at Marq/Cronin at Cincy are doing  great jobs.

As for Devanta, he and Momma Jessie Pollard are enjoying DC.

We have a winner.  In all these years I have never heard of that one or thought of that one.  That phrase encompasses all, even the fruity stuff they got going on.

Heck, when you say "duke black", that phrase encompasses all too.

Actually, Momma Pollard reminds me a lot of Pops, and that is a great thing.

Looked pretty good.  There was not much point posting about him unless things got serious, and now they are.

The first two things we look at are feet and hands.  Like I said about Upshaw, if a big has those two things then he can be worked with.  Hayes has good hands and good feet.  They are not as good as Upshaw, but he is a little more raw in basketball.  having said that, he has true length really pushing 6'11.  His has solid athleticsm, but that can/will be improved.  He has solid fundamentals and footwork, so there is a good base to work with. He is a solid ball handler, so he should be fine facilitaing in the Gtown offense.   He has good shooting mechanics.  Needs to work on his touch, but that will come with repitition.  He is right hand dominant, so gotta work on the left (layups, hooks, and dunks).

I have never seen him play a game, so I do not know how well he blocks shots.  There are shots blocked for being tall, and there are shots blocked for having shot blocking skills.

Now the question is; is Hayes as a sophmore at Gtown better than any center that Gtown can bring in the 2013 class?   The answer is yes.  That is not a knock on the 2013 class, but as we have discussed the 2013 class is abnormally short.  There really is not a player over 6'10 in that class.  Hayes at 6'11 is the tallest player on the Gtown roster by a lot.  He is not a stiff, so the roll of the dice is worth it.  So basically Hayes will bridge the tall center gap until at least the 2014 class with Mosses and Tyler.  That is solid since Hopkins should be developing into a PF.    Hayes has the tools to be developed at Bigman U.  After 5-6 months of working with Othella, Roy, Greg... it will be really really interesting to see his improvement.  This does not mean he will be the next Pat, but I think he will be better than Pascal.

Note: Bolden looked really good when he worked out individually also.  Just sayin 

And as for Devonta, there are some really good eatin in DC too with sweet tea.

Gtown is bringing Hayes in for 2012 to play! No redshirt, he just needs to be coached up this summer and fall.

He might have to finish a class requirement, but he will be 2012.

BTW.  If he has to reclassify and be 2013 then Gtown should offer the one or two schollies to the best players available.  Gotta get a PG, but after that then position is not going to matter that much.  A freshman Hayes and a freshman Jimmy Taylor are about on par.  Hayes' advantage is in being in the 2012 class if he can and getting an extra year to develop in college.

Pitt Jam Fest is this weekend.  Good chance to see and evaluate him in a real game.  Things will shake out from there.
