-The editing or structuring is horrible. We get in and out of scenes at the most awkward times. And speaking of time...it seems to stand still. We come back to Sookie after ten minutes and she is still lying on the kitchen floor with that creep. Good grief, TPTB, you could have allowed her to hit him over the head with a pan in the initial scene between them. And, boy, it sure did take Lafayette forever to take care of business outside the house with the two fiends. That should have taken a minute or two but he appeared to be out there for about a half hour before Maryanne showed up.
-The characters don't have any sense. What was Tara's plan? Love may blind you to common sense but really what was her plan of operation to get Eggs out of the house? And Lafayette and Sookie thought it was wise to split up when they were about to confront the most powerful enemy they have yet to face? Yeah, right. Sam is walking out the restaurant alone to inquire about some noise he heard? Hadn't his life been in danger enough these past few days? Who knows what was waiting for him? And the less said about Jason's ridiculous Rambo antics the better.
-This ep felt like filler. It was as if TPTB knew they wanted to produce a certain amount of episodes but did not have enough story to sustain it. So they padded this episode (and to a lesser extent last week's too). We're back to square one with Tara. Jason and the police guy were all but useless and did not push the plot along. There aren't any twists and turns with Maryanne's story...we just keep getting the same stuff each week. Bill and the Queen storyline was mostly useless. The information she conveyed was not overly helpful and certainly not all that interesting to this viewer. Which means the Queen's time on the screen was a waste and only managed to drag out the final outcome. Hoyt and his mom? Whatever.
-The silliness is too over the top. The writers are trying too hard to release tension by adding several moments of intended humor. But the writing, delivery and the execution remains flat. As a result the scenes don't work. This show tries its best to blend drama, horror and comedy but right now its failing to make this an easy mix.
-The Queen was a huge disappointment? Huge. Bring Godrick back. At least he was interesting. But these arrogant, flippant, indifferent presentation of elder vampires is getting tired. Someone's been reading too many Anne Rice novels. The Queen came across as rich, spoiled, hyper sexual twenty-something human being. Been there, done that. And what made her moments even worse was the so-so acting by an actress who I thought had more acting chops that that.
-The attempt at a romantic triangle is laughable at this point. Bill and Eric getting all macho and possessive over Sookie is so awfully done and so uninteresting. The Queen's glib reference to the sexual tension between Bill and Eric seems more of a shout out to the audience than it does a substantial observation.
